However, maintaining the new weight in the long term is the real challenge for many people. Most often, it doesn&#8217;t work because the transformation is viewed as a limited period. In a meaningful way, <strong>long-term, healthy weight loss<\/strong> can only work if you question and <strong>adapt<\/strong> your <strong>lifestyle<\/strong>. This can be approached either radically or step by step, and it depends on the individual&#8217;s preference. However, it often fails in the implementation. The general recommendations such as &#8220;less sweets, less alcohol, fewer snacks&#8221; are generally correct but may not be sufficient on their own. In my opinion, <strong>nutritional training<\/strong> should be <strong>tailored to the individual<\/strong> and <strong>provide alternatives<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>At the beginning, it is advisable to become <strong>aware of one&#8217;s own eating habits<\/strong>. That&#8217;s why I recommend keeping a <strong>food diary<\/strong> for <strong>at least 2 weeks<\/strong>. Take 2 typical weeks from your everyday life (not during vacation).<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the <strong>food and drinks<\/strong>, it is also important to note how you felt at the <strong>moment of consuming the food<\/strong>. Many overweight individuals are <strong>emotional eaters<\/strong>, and in these cases, it is important to <strong>explore the triggers<\/strong>. It is also important to note <strong>which foods make you feel good<\/strong> and which ones have less positive effects. <\/p>\n<p>This <strong>first step<\/strong> brings a lot of <strong>clarity<\/strong>, both to eating habits and emotions, and based on that, much <strong>better recommendations can be developed<\/strong>. Keeping a food diary requires a small effort. Furthermore, strength training helps improve <strong>insulin action<\/strong>. Enough reasons to start training today if you haven&#8217;t already. <\/p>\n<p>You don&#8217;t necessarily have to train in a gym if you don&#8217;t want to. There are plenty of exercises you can do at home using your <strong>own body weight<\/strong>. If you are healthy and have no pain, it&#8217;s best to focus on <strong>training the large muscle groups<\/strong> (e.g., legs, buttocks, back, major chest muscle) at the beginning, as they burn the most calories. Basically, the rule is: <strong>The more muscles<\/strong> involved, <strong>the higher the energy consumption<\/strong>. Apart from weight reduction, cardio training helps improve <strong>respiratory depth<\/strong>, <strong>blood circulation<\/strong>, and <strong>fat metabolism<\/strong>, to name just a few benefits. <\/p>\n<p>Depending on your current overweight, you should choose the type of training. Also, the <strong>fun factor<\/strong> should not be neglected. Choose a sport that brings you joy, as this is the key to sticking with your <strong>program<\/strong> in the <strong>long run<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>If you have <strong>physical issues<\/strong>, consult with your doctor to determine which sports are suitable for you. If you experience pain, it&#8217;s best to start training with a physiotherapist. If you are pain-free, ideally have an experienced trainer create a <strong>suitable program<\/strong> that <strong>fits well with you and your lifestyle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Also, remember to incorporate as much <strong>movement into your daily life<\/strong> as possible. I know, this advice is often mentioned. Mental training contributes immensely to your <strong>well-being<\/strong> and the <strong>success of your endeavor<\/strong>. If the reasons for your overweight, for example, are related to stress, it is crucial to closely examine your current lifestyle and concurrently work on stress reduction. The reasons for overweight often go much deeper than expected. <\/p>\n<p>It is also important to keep your <strong>main goal<\/strong> <strong>in focus<\/strong> but not to forget the important, <strong>small intermediate goals<\/strong>. Setting realistic, <strong>motivating goals is the basic prerequisite<\/strong> for successful weight loss. <\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also best to develop <strong>strategies<\/strong> at the beginning on how to stay on track during <strong>challenging times<\/strong> to reach your goal.
