Cholesterol – An Interview with Dr. Krychtiuk

Cholesterol is one of the most talked-about topics in cardiology—and at the same time, one about which a great deal of misinformation circulates online. It is all the more encouraging that Associate Professor, Priv.-Doz., Dr. Konstantin Krychtiuk, PhD, FESC—a cardiologist at our Co-Ordination Medical Center—provides clear explanations in an interview with the Austrian patient portal.

What is the interview about?

In this interview, Dr. Krychtiuk explains the link between cholesterol and cardiovascular disease: What role do blood lipids play in the development of atherosclerosis? Why is high cholesterol such a significant risk factor for heart attacks and strokes? And just as important: He emphasizes how crucial good education is—because a lot of “fake news” is circulating about cholesterol, which can unsettle those affected and deter them from seeking effective treatment.
